Social Work Services
The Health Department offers a variety of social work services which include Baby Love Plus, Care Management for Early Childhood, and Care Management for High Risk Pregnancies. The Health Department also serves as a Child Passenger Safety Checking station.

Baby Love Plus
Baby Love Plus is a FREE program to eligible women, fathers, and families offering help with:
- Finding services and resources to match your needs such as family planning, breastfeeding, medical care, transportation, WIC, employment, and housing
- Linkage to health care before, between, and following pregnancies
- Referrals to community resources
- Health education and training
Baby Love Plus is designed to:
- Share knowledge on baby’s health and development
- Create positive health outcomes with pregnancies
- Promote health through education and counseling
- Improve parenting skills
- Promote factors to support happy, healthy families
Your Care Manager can meet you at your provider appointments, talk with you by phone, meet you in your home, or meet you at a location that is convenient for you.

Care Management for Early Childhood
Care Management for Early Childhood, a component of Care Management for At Risk Children (CMARC), is a FREE program for children birth to 5 years who:
- Have long-term medical conditions and/or
- Are dealing with challenging levels of stress and/or
- Are referred by the child’s doctor or community partner
Care Managers can:
- Recognize you as the expert of your child
- Ask about your child’s and your family’s needs, concerns, goals, and questions
- Work with you to help build a strong relationship to your child’s doctor(s)
- Offer referrals to community resources
- Assist families with challenging levels of stress
- Offer information and education on health and family topics including child growth and development
- Help you get answers to your questions
- Provide parenting education and support

CMARC Care Manager: Georgiana Couden
Care Management for High Risk Pregnancies
The Care Management for High Risk Pregnancies (CMHRP) is a FREE program for women who are pregnant or in their postpartum period who are enrolled into North Carolina Medicaid. CMHRP Care Managers can help by:
- Providing accurate information and tips to assist you in following your provider’s plan to help you have a healthy pregnancy
- Coordinating your care across all providers
- Helping link you with needed services and referrals for things such as medical/dental care, transportation, food, housing, and more
- Referring you to other programs like breastfeeding education, SIDS prevention, family planning, parenting education, and WIC
- Offering information and tips to take care of yourself during pregnancy and after you deliver
- Helping you manage your medications
- Meeting with you after you have been in the hospital or emergency room
- Assisting you with follow-up appointments
- Answering questions

CMHRP Care Manager: Runette Candies
Child Passenger Safety Checking Station:
The Health Department is a Child Passenger Safety Checking Station that can provide child passenger safety training and support. Our certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians can:
- Educate on child passenger safety laws
- Help to determine which seat is appropriate for your child
- Assist with proper installation of your car seat
- Provide education and training
The Child Passenger Safety Checking Station facilitates the Child Passenger Safety Training, supported through grant funding, to provide education and child passenger safety seats to families in the community. The FREE classes, when available, will be advertised on our Facebook page with a link to pre-register. The class is one hour, in-person, for parents or legal guardians of children 0-8 years old.
