  • Nutrition Counseling
  • Care Management
  • Referrals
  • RN Home Visits for Newborns

Family Planning

The Family Planning Program services include the following:
  • Physical Exams including Breast Exams
  • Routine Lab Testing to include Pregnancy Test, Pap Smear, and STD Testing
  • Nutrition Conseling
  • Reproductive Life Planning
  • Birth Control Method Counseling (Birth Control Pills, Hormonal Implant (Nexplanon), Injectable Contraceptive (Depo-Provera), Condoms)
  • Screening for STI's
  • Risk Reduction Counseling
  • Referrals

Immunizations

Maternal Health

The Maternal Health Program offers services which include:
  • Referral for Prenatal Services
  • Care Management Referrals
  • Safe Sleep Education
  • Breastfeeding Education
  • Nutrition Counseling
  • Resourceful information about Safe Surrender and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS)

Communicable Diseases/Tuberculosis (TB)

  • Investigation, Management, and Treatment of Communicable Diseases and TB
  • TB Skin Testing

Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs)

The Halifax County Health Department offers:
  • Physical Exams
  • Screening for STIs Avaliable - free of charge (Chlymdia, Gonorrhea, Herpes, HIV, Syphilis, Trichomonias)
  • Treatment for positive STIs - free of charge
  • Risk Reduction Counseling and Education
  • Referrals for ongoing medical care as indicated

Social Work Services

The Halifax County Health Department offers a variety of social work services which include:
  • Care Management for Early Childhood
  • Care Management for High Risk Pregnancies
  • Baby Love Plus
  • We also serve as a Child Passenger Safety Checking Station
