Tax Administration

In Halifax County, the offices of the Tax Supervisor and the Tax Collector are combined into a single office responsible for listing, appraising, and assessing real and personal property, and for collecting taxes due on that property. The department also processes applications for tax relief and tax exemptions that may be granted under State law, and maintains up-to-date records of property ownership and tax maps. In addition, this office also maintains up-to-date Geographic Information Systems data and other property data that is available for public use.
