The Halifax County Health Department (HCHD) is dedicated to promoting and preserving the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of Halifax County. Disease prevention and control, health maintenance and enhancement, and health education are the hallmarks of Public Health.

Traditionally, the health department has provided health care services for clients who have not been able to access services elsewhere. However, Halifax County Health Department offers much more, services include: Breast and Cervical Cancer Screenings, Diabetes Management, Family Planning Services, Health Education, Immunizations, Maternal Health Services, Child Health Services, Nutritional Services, Kindergarten Screenings, Communicable Disease Control, Vital Statistics, Environmental Health Services, Home Health and Hospice Services.
